From the argumentation of the Jury: “The Planica Nordic Centre is a morphological masterpiece, in which the topography embraces architecture to the maximum while at the same time, the architectural intervention in the characteristic Alpine surroundings is minimal. A thoughtful, restrained and subtle placement within the landscape creates an illusion of architectural interventions as an organic part of the glacial valley under the Ponce mountains. The interdisciplinary approach has resulted in an unobtrusive, almost ascetic conglomerate of diverse elements, the presence of which is made even more majestic precisely by its restrained character.”
