The scheme of the area integrates football stadium, sports hall, an underground shopping mall and a park into a coherent whole.U rban generators are intertwined with natural elements forming interactive social space which facilitates development of numerous events. The park is Ljubljana’s new recreational space. The plan preserves the flatness of the surrounding landscape, and enhances spatial proportions between large landscape features now merged with the hall and stadium. The grass plane, as the central landscape component of the wider area, penetrates into the park and integrates all main park’s components visually and functionally. In the atriums of the entry pavilliona and in the great plaza in the middle of the area, the park descends into the shopping centre. The thick technical slab is pierced with devices that enable operation of the levels below the park. This net of vertical structural connections – vents, sun tunnels, staircases – gives the park its character and forms the base for distribution of diverse programmes.
